THANK YOU L’OFFICIEL for putting together an outstanding homage to the late designer Alexander McQueen, reflecting on some of the most memorable McQueen moments from runway to editorial. This is much needed for us, Mcqueen Fans, to mourn over his untimely and sudden death… The McQueen Legend lives on.

VOGUE HOMME – NIPPON – 3

Japan, japan, japan… the greatest consumers of designer products means also they REALLY know how to produce a magazine that is highly desirable. Flipping through the pages (cos i cant read Jap) its page after page of highly styled and crafted images and looks that you can’t get enough of. Stylist of the moment, Nicola Formichetti, styled the series by Steven Klein… like a match made in heaven, the outcome is perfection. I want a petition to push VogueHommeNippon to be monthly and be in dual language, however, the wait (published 2 times a year!) and the foreign-ness (this means I could add my own narratives), just makes it that much more special.

PURPLE – Fall 09

PURPLE magazine is an acutely curated piece of Fashion periodical. Always delivering the interviews with the fashion insiders and great photography sets shot by and shooting the best and most interesting. This issue is no difference… to be honest I’m still slowly savouring every bit of this but what caught my eyes at first glance was the cover and the series by Terry and the nudes of  Dree Hemingway by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin (my all time fav photographer duo). I also love the debossed glyph of  ”Le.Diable”  which added that “Je ne sais quoi”.

Another GREAT feature on a design master, this time Italian designer Max Huber. He is a contemporary to fellow design luminaries as Herbert Bayer, Otl Aicher, Saul Bass and Josef Muller. He was also very much influenced by his involvement by the the “Concrete Movement” idealised by Max Bill. His works are bold and amazingly “current” and to think he did all these body of works sans computer! R E S P E C T !
